How do you check your Claude usage and what is left?
Anthropic shows your limits in two places. Neither stays in view while you work: that is where an always-on gauge changes everything.
On claude.ai
Settings > Usage shows “progress bars showing how much of your five-hour session and weekly usage limits you’ve consumed”, with the time left and the weekly reset time.
In Claude Code
The /usage command will “show session cost, plan usage limits, and activity stats”; /cost and /stats are aliases. On Pro and Max it also flags behaviors that account for 10% or more of your recent usage.
The dollar figure /usage shows is meant for API users: on Pro and Max, usage is included in the subscription. Older help pages mention /status, which now shows version, model and account.
The catch: you have to go and look
Both views mean stopping what you are doing. Mid-task you do not think of it, and the limit lands at the worst moment.
Frequently asked questions
Does /status still show my limits?
No. In current Claude Code versions it is /usage; /status shows version, model and account.
Can I see my Claude usage on iPhone?
Anthropic documents the Settings > Usage page on claude.ai. JaugeAI shows it in iPhone widgets and on Apple Watch, read by your Mac.
Is the dollar amount in /usage billed on Pro?
No. Anthropic says it is meant for the API; on Pro and Max, usage is included in the subscription.
